African King and Queen

So Imperfect, but, Perfectly in Love

The wonderful sense of hearing is an amazing feeling. It really feels good when you listen to the things you want to hear, or when your loved one tells you what he/she knows you love to hear. Add that to some quality time, and its fireworks of love, of love, and of love.

Don't get us wrong, the sense of sight, touch, and taste are vital as well, but, there's something unique about hearing, you see, hearing is soothing, calming, re-assuring, confirmatory, and loving;  we've been told by people in long lasting relationships "if he/she is not listening, the feeling is empty".
So listen ooooo, listen to your loved one at all times, especially when you do not share the same perceptions or sentiments, listen first, and let the other senses follow suit.

In our viewpoint, we believe music is a pure and an angelic artform, it which illustrates and explore so many of ones feeling at time, Music is healing, soothing, motivating, captivating, loving, and if embraced,  takes you where you want to be. It is important therefore to choose wisely what you listen to.

Tonight, we are both home, it's snowing, yet, early in the evening, we do not have work tomorrow, even though we can't forget the exam we have at 1700, nonetheless, love comes first, so its time for some good Jazz, some soothing Soul music over some blameless South African Wine, and most definitely our noble conversations and reflections on our love/marriage.

Music and Love, the right concoction for good loving, at all cost.

Love Always,
Lilian & Dennis

As strong and pulsatile positive words can be, the fall short in describing how angelic of a person you are. You  have taught me so much and has "sheeped the lion in me". Your love is effortlessly humble and pure. It's rare for humans to meet angels in their life time, little did I know I would be loved by one in my lifetime.

Baby I love you so much. I enjoy living and loving you, I love the family we share,  I thank God for you in my life, and I wouldn't change a thing about you.

It's my sincere prayer that God will continue to mould our love in His Goodness and Mercy.

I LOVE YOU. I  LOVE US

Your Husband,
Your Man.

Happy New Year and welcome to a fascination blend of the old self, and the rejuvenated expected self. Some say a and brand new you. We have great news for you, " you don't have to wait for the new year to rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul. Keep shinning, keep rising, keep loving, keep living in positivity year round, and infinity.

Each day is an opportunity to make the next day better, and each year brings us more reasons to be better, live healthier, be more human, and embrace the reality that life will go on; therefore, this year, welcome the idea that, creating a solid and healthy relationship will make this year a better, and blessed one.

Here are ways to take your relationship a notch up

1. Strengthen Your Relationship
What are some of the things you can do to strengthen your already established relationship ? Spice it up. Spice up the things that you both love about your relationship, and take it further.  We both love art, fashion, music, travel, and adventure, so for this year, we plan to take it up a notch and surprise each other based on our likes. Make this decision to strengthen your relationship often, make it unexpected. Give your better half a reason to miss you every second of time when you are away.

2. Slow Down and Love
This year, this day, henceforth, slow down. Sometimes, its easy to get caught up with work, school, and projects, but do not forget your LOVE. Slowing down will strengthen your relationship.

Let's say it together, s-l-o-w d-o-w-n.
We understand  you have to work, we understand you might have 2 or 3 jobs, we understand, it's tiring, we understand you have bills to pay; however, as advanced as we, death and demise continues to win, and it target's us when are most vulnerable, "When we are stressed from not slowing down". In the midst of your busy schedule(s), the last thing you want is to ignore your love. Make him/her feel loved, not ignored, make them relevant, touch, kiss, surprise each other in the simplest ways- a love not goes many miles, an unexpected hug and warm kiss is healing, so slow down and Love

3. Apologize, You're Imperfect
We are still looking for the one person or person's who are flawless in their personal lives and in their relationship- so please let us know when you find one at theafricankingandqueen@gmail.com. Guys, it's okay to be wrong, and sometimes being wrong confirms that you are human. Its vital that you understand that being in a relationship, does not nullify you from being wrong. It actually sets a stage for your vulnerability, and shed's more light on your ignored weakness. With each apology, learn not to repeat them, and mean your apologies; this will take your relationship to the next level.

4. Pray Together Without Ceasing
This should have been the first point, but any who, Pray, Pray, Pray, and Pray, and keep on praying- with faith, with purpose, with confidence, with dialogue, and believe in your prayer, and it will be answered. Without prayer, we would not have made it this far in our relationship. God has been the light in our paths, and has opened more doors for us; at times when we were or have been to weak to pry, He strengthens us. Godliness in a relationship is evidenced by a strong bond of positivity, and creates a solid foundation for any loving, and lasting relationship. Pray always, before you eat, pray whether someone is looking or not,  pray in all situations- good or challenging; and believe that your prayers will be answered.

5. Plan Your Week Together
Planing your week together is easier than planning a year or a month.  Remember, key phrase here is "your week"; this means that, in spite of your busy work work schedule, you as a couple can make smile through the hurriedness. No matter what, or how busy you are, set time aside for each other, this enhances your bond, solidifies your love, and thickens the appreciation you have share.

LoveAlways,

1. Get Skeletons Out Of Your Closet
Part ways with a common bad habit- hoarding. Take a deep breath, and let
go of all the clothes you haven't had a reason to wear, we know its tough,
but guess what? If you spent so much money on them and haven't worn them,
chances are you might never wear them. Let go, to make room for the
newness in 2014.

2. Get Measured.
Very important. Baggy has eased out of style, unless you plan to bring it
back. Please stop by the nearest tailor/seamstress and get measured
professionally. Knowing the right measurements, allow you to know what
to buy. Write down your measurements, memorize them, know them, breath
them, store them up in your phone- the best option we....think.

3. Sort Out Your Clothes
The shirts, the pants, the blazers, suits, jackets, sweaters, and all members
of your elite closet/wardrobe live longer if they are well kept.  Hang them
well, take it up a notch, color coordinate them; if you have more room, you
might be able to coordinate outfits before you wear them- this cuts down
on time when you have to somewhere impromptu. Fellas, the ladies love an
organized man- hint hint.
4. Keep A Budget
Please don't go crazy on a shopping spree, just keep it simple, shop on sale
items. Yep! The best kept secret to staying trendy- shop on sale items. Plan
a budget, and don't exhaust all means, remember, we preach on this blog to
look good inside-out. ASOS, FOREVER21, H&M, ZARA, J-CREW, GAP
have great deals.

5. Shop Smart
The simplest way to shop for fashion trends is to shop based on new trends,
and most importantly, shop to your taste. If you see an outfit you'd like to
own in any fashion magazine or on social media, take a picture of it, or print
it out and take it to your favorite store. We've tried it, and it works well.
Also, don't wait till the weekend to shop, some stores replenish items on
Wednesdays and Thursdays, so take advantage.
6. Use COUPONS
We want you to look good,  be happy in what you wear, and save money;
also, prevent you from going crazy spending intoxicated, therefore, we
highly encourage you to utilize coupons- once mailed to your home, or from
friends. If you're a student or a veteran, please ask at the counter if they
offer discounts before you check out-  this means that  you need your
student ID/ military ID to go shopping- sounds awkward, but you'll be a
happy camper with all the savings.
7. Be Careful With Window Shopping
Don't come home and ask yourself whether you really like what you bought.
Leave the credit and debit cards at home if you do not plan to shop. Come
on now, be disciplined. Its tough we know, but stay grounded, new styles
are abundant in this generation of trend hungry designers.
8. Keep A Balanced Shopping List
By the end of 2014,  you want to look in your closet with smiles and good/
great fashion tangled memories. Don't buy just shirts, or just pants and keep
2 shoes. Be expansive, and be daring to try out some different colors. The
colors you wear depict your psyche, believe it or not, therefore, be yourself,
be comfortable to others eyes also. Blend up your closet/wardrobe, a little
bit of everything, clothes, fragrance, ties, watch, etc.
9. Stay Natural/Be Yourself
Keep your skin tone, keep your style simple and unique. Please make sure
you are able to breath in what you wear, else others will not be able to breath
around you.

10. STAY HEALTHY!!!!!!!
Work out. Seriously, at least 30 minutes to and an hour a day per
American Heart Association. If you're spending all this money to
look good, its only wise that you stay healthy. It's important that you get
annual physical with your doctor/nurse practitioner/physician assistant,
see your dentist every 6 months, and eat low salt, low sugar, high fiber,
good fats- avocado, coconut oil, stay away from the trans and
highly saturated fats.

Now you're all set for 2014.
LoveAlways,
DennisandLilian

The best Christmas presents do not make it under the Christmas tree.

Instead, we see them in the presence of family, love, kindness, and the essence of support for each other. It feels good to have our parents, siblings, close friends, and distant relatives all at heart on this festive occasion.

Don't get us wrong, the gifts are great, however, reaching out to close friends and continuing to build strong family ties is essential to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
Merry Christmas,
Love

It was a beautiful Winter Sunday afternoon, exactly a year ago today, we had just gotten home from church, and we started brainstorming on doing something different, so we utilized the internet. It took a while before the landed on the idea of a blog. We browsed and browsed, and the birth of the blog came to life. It's been an amazing year. We continue to enjoy sharing our life with you.

From then on, we've shared most our lovely moments here, and we will continue to add more features in the coming year. The shops have been amazing, ASOS has been the main fashion culprit to a fashion trend, and gradually other vendors have joined. Feel free to share our closet.
God continues to do amazing and wonderful things in our lives. It's a prayer that we inspire you with our genuinity and imperfection.

Love Always,
Dennis and Lilian

Listening to Hezekiah Walker's God Favored Me, is so inspiring this morning, its important that we stay humble as God shower's his blessing upon us. This is what holds us still and calm when things don't go our way.

This week we lost Nelson Mandela, his life, his legacy, and the challenges and successes he endured are all testaments of how better we can all become us humanity; and, the extraordinary power of Forgiveness.

This Sunday morning, and for the rest of your purposeful life, believe that all is possible, believe that God never forsakes his children, and believe that when you pray, He will answer.

Stay Blessed,
Lilian and Dennis
